The foundation stone of Siddhartha Cable Car was laid on February 21. It will be operational from Butwal Nagari to Nuwakotgadhi of Palpa. Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Poudel laid the foundation stone for the construction of cable car. The cable car is on the construction phase with an investment of Rupees 800 million. The first cable car of Nepal, Manakamana Cable Car is operating since December 25, 2055, BS. It has great impact in Nepal’s tourism sector as thousands of people visit it every year.
According to Chairman Rajendra Singh Gurung, the project will be completed within 18 months. It will have 25 gondolas and can transport 5,000 people daily. It will take 8 minutes to go or come unilaterally. With completion of this project, it not only makes people’s life easier but boost the tourism business in Butwal as well.
An agreement has been made with Conveyor and Ropeway Services in Calcutta, India for the construction of the cable car. Butwal Technical Institute is introducing new technology through this project. “We have made necessary preparations not only for the construction but also to produce manpower and provide employment to the”, said PL Shrestha, Executive Director of the Institute.
According to the Finance Minister, there would be sufficient support from the government sector to complete the project on time. He also said as the investment of the private sector is on the project which is indeed pride for the nation. Other Projects
Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli laid the foundation stone of the Lumbini cable car from Butwal to Basantapur in Palpa only a year ago. The construction of Gautam Buddha International Airport is completed. The operation of the second phase of the airport will begin soon. The government has allocated the necessary budget to complete the Lumbini Master Plan within two years. Similarly, the road widening work from Butwal Highway intersection to Chidiaphedi has started with the completion of Butwal six-lane road.
