Everybody wants their home to be neat and clean. However, cleaning can be a tough task and when it comes to the whole house, it is even more tiresome. In fact, it is quite impossible to pristine the house wholly. You can take small steps at a time. Moreover, you can dedicate some time to home maintenance, two hours a week, an afternoon per month, and a couple of days a year.  This will help to keep your home clean and fresh throughout the year.

Weekly Maintenance Checklist

  • Firstly, mow your lawns, and trim the bushes as well.
  • Secondly, vacuum your carpets. 
  • Thirdly, clean your showerheads and taps by soaking them in vinegar overnight. 
  • Furthermore, freshen up your kitchen garbage disposal. 
  • Clean the outside of all appliances like oven and refrigerator. You can also clean the inside of one appliance once a week. 
  • Dust your furniture. 
  • Remove spills, stains, and other messes as they occur.

Monthly Maintenance Checklist

  • Check the exterior for paint chipping, holes, or drafts. Include a roof inspection.
  • Check for dust and dirt in your light fixtures and photo frames, wipe down the baseboards, and polish your wood furniture. 
  • Test the electrical outlets. 
  • Fix any rust spots. 
  • Clean your cutlery drawers with soap and hot water. 
  • Clean the toilet brush with bleach. Replace it every six months.
  • Clean the ceiling fans using a duster or wet cloth.

Yearly Maintenance Checklist 

  • Clean and organize your basement, attic, or garage. You can find your old bits and bobs that you can donate or sell online. 
  • Clean your windows and windows screen. It often collects a huge amount of dust and dirt. Also, replace the damaged window. 
  • Clean the external gutters and drainage. Remove debris such as falling branches, leaves, and dirt.
  • Repair bathrooms and showers while checking for sediment and caulking. Also, inspect the basement for mold growth and other issues.
  • Clean the chimney. 
  • Take on one major outdoor improvement project per year such as installing a fence. 
  • Give a mini-makeover to any room of your choice. If you continue to repaint or move furniture one room per year, your whole home will look terrific, in a few years.
